Function

The main parts of the sensor are a scale in the form of a cylindrical rod, along which the sensor head - the slider.

The scale includes a very precise spiral of ferromagnetic material in a non-magnetic stainless steel tube. The slider contains a winding system and an electronic unit.

If the excitation winding is supplied with alternating current, alternating voltages are induced in the sensing windings, the amplitude of which varies according to the sinusoidal resp. cosine function, depending on the position of the slider relative to the pitch (2 mm) of the excitation winding.

The excitation of the scale and the digitization of the output signals are provided by the electronic unit in the slider.


With the Endurro Neo L sensor, the scale and slider are built into the support frame. This simplifies the installation of the sensor and protects the measuring system from damage.
The support frame contains movable rod clamps in the form of flat springs, which completely eliminate the deflection of the rod. When the rider passes through the clip, its springs open and allow the rider to pass freely.
Due to the fact that the passage of the slider through the movable clip requires a certain adjusting force, it is necessary to observe the recommended rigidity of the bracket for fixing the slider.
